You can absolutely visit the Magic City without spending an arm and a leg. Keep reading to see our top picks for some of Miami’s cheap (yet still fabulous) hotels, that won’t run your wallet dry.
7 Miami Stays That Won’t Break the Bank
1. Travel Agent-Recommended: Kelly Tolliday from RNR Travel has a recommendation for beach enthusiasts starting at $125 a night: Esmé Miami Beach.
“With an old-Miami feel but modern luxury touches, you get to be in the middle of the action” she tells us.
My clients love staying at Esme for its ode to nostalgic Miami arts, culture and scene, pricing and location. The pool and rooftop are a huge hit as well!
2. For Large Groups: Your pickup soccer team should definitely plan to stay at Freehand Miami. It does have private bedrooms, but you can also rent out an entire bunk room for you and your friends. And if you want an even less expensive option, you can rent a bed in a hostel-style shared room. Starting at $98 per night, you really can’t beat it.
3. Party Time: The Meridian Miami Beach by Kasa is great for those looking for a fun night — whether it’s after the game or just on spring break. Starting at just $88 a night, it features a pool, an in-house bar, and it’s pet-friendly. It’s also a six minute walk from the city’s infamous Ocean Drive, so you can expect some seriously vibrant night life in the surrounding area.
4. Amenities Galore: Enjoy a slightly more upscale stay in the heart of downtown at YOTEL Miami. Even though you’re only paying (what starts at) $118 per night, you can access two restaurants, a gym, a pool, breakfast and a bar. It feels like paradise without the huge expense.
5. Most Affordable: Miami River Inn starts at just $86 for one night (the least expensive option on this list). However, it’s in no way any less of a good time than the other hotels. Use the pool, grab a cocktail at the in-house bar or ask guest services for help at anytime. It’s a great spot, especially if you’re looking to save on your trip.
6. Beach Adjacent: If beach access is what you’re looking for, Fairwind Hotel Miami is your spot. It isn’t overlooking the white sands and blue waters, but it’s a block or two away. Plus, it starts at just $144 per night (which is still cheap for a Miami hotel!). Just don’t forget your SPF.
7. Retro Chic: If you’re looking for hip vibes with a history, check into The Vagabond Hotel. With an art deco theme, it’s alleged to have been one of many meeting spots of the Rat Pack. It has an artful interior and it’s just a few minutes from the Wynwood Art District. As Sinatra would say, it’s “nothing but the best.”
Tips For Finding Decent Cheap Miami Hotels
- Look for last-minute deals. Third party sites like Expedia or even the hotel itself will give cheap deals on empty rooms if they aren’t booked before the weekend. Don’t discount a last-minute trip—sometimes those make for some of the best.
- Go with a large group, and split up the rooms. If you’re open to splitting a two-bed room or even two beds with a cot with friends or family, you’ll end up saving more money.
- Pick something off the beaten path. Even though staying in the heart of downtown may seem like the more interesting option, there are often better prices on hotels in lesser-known neighborhoods, or simply on a hotel off main street. You never know what you might find
- Select a weekend in the off- or shoulder-season. “Shoulder season” refers to the period of time between major seasons (like summer). Try going to Miami right before spring break or right after summer break. You may ultimately find better deals.
