David was Bargain Hunter’s founding Editor. He previously held similar positions for McClatchy’s sister sites US Weekly and Woman’s World, as well as McClatchy news sites including Miami Herald, and continues to work for McClatchy.

He got his start in journalism over 20 years ago as a staff writer for the Hemmings  family of four print magazines, and previously owned a small photography business. During the long freelance career that followed, his writing and photography appeared in publications ranging from The New York Times to Road & Track, as well as series of textbooks for Oxford University Press.

David’s previous jobs include cook, goatherd, construction foreman, zookeeper, mainframe operator, academic librarian, sawmill tailman and escalator demolitionist. He is a former vice-president of the Vermont Cavers Association, has been bitten by multiple animals including a tiger, and is a former professional stage performer. He has emceed and hosted over 100 live events and was interviewed by The Hill twice about disgraced New York politician Anthony Weiner.
